Also, before installing Slack 8.1 the first time and then before installing AL the second time, I used the Slack 8.1 CD to remove all partitions from the drive with cfdisk followed by using the win98 cd to 'fdisk. After the install, slack doesnt seem to launch at all - Im not really sure how to proceed here. On the other hand, if you are using Fedora, AlmaLinux, or Rocky Linux, you need to download the RPM version of the installation file. I tried installing 4.10.3, but that didnt launch on my system either. Open your browser, and go to Slack’s Linux download page. Im also on a reasonably fresh Arch install, so Im not sure how this got into my nf. Install Slack on your Linux distribution. Once you have the package downloaded, open your terminal emulator, and change the directory into your download folder. You can still install Slack on Linux, thanks to the Snap package. Choose your Linux distribution to get detailed installation instructions. Just make sure that your Linux distribution supports Snap and run this simple command in your terminal to install the Snap package: sudo snap install slack -classic. Note: Using this uninstall process for Windows will automatically remove Windows environment variables created by the original installation.From there, use dpkg to install the package.
